About this service
Metro Community Housing Association operates group homes in the Halifax / Dartmouth area which provide twenty-four hour staff support for the eight to ten people who would reside in each of the homes. The primary purpose of the group home service is to provide supportive services in a residential setting to individuals who have experienced mental health difficulties.
In an effort to provide a home-like atmosphere based upon respect for all individuals, we have established general principals for comfort, safety and security for all. As well, clients are expected to participate in daily household duties and the planning and preparation of nutritious meals.
In order to assist in the realization of client goals, the MCHA Group Home Service relies to a great extent on resources available within the community. Residents are assisted in becoming aware of, and in the use of, these resources to establish a support system for themselves.
