Halifax Meals on Wheels has been delivering fresh, nutritious meals for over half a century. Dedicated volunteers put food on the tables of those in Halifax who are unable to prepare a meal for themselves. We deliver fresh chilled meals and warm hearts while providing peace of mind for our clients and their families.
Halifax Meals on Wheels began operations on November 17, 1969. That was when Doris Salton, Ethel Nicholson and Norah Corston delivered meals to six clients. The first was Mulgrave Park resident Michael Murphy whose ability to prepare meals was limited by diabetes and a physical disability.
