APSEA - Additional Services for Students who are Blind or Visually Impaired

Assessment is the foundation of program planning. A Centre-Based Assessment provides valuable information to the school-based or preschool teams at key transition points. The Assessment Team, at the APSEA Centre in Halifax, provides individual assessment based on questions submitted by the childs program team.

Referrals for Assessment are coordinated by the Itinerant Teacher and may be submitted in the fall and spring of each year. A comprehensive Assessment Report is provided to the family and school team. Case Conferences are held to provide an opportunity for the referring team to discuss the Assessment Report with the Centre-based team.
