About this organization
The Alders is located at Gottigen and Uniacke, in the heart of the North End. The neighbourhood is a hub of ethnic and cultural diversity, where newcomers live alongside long-standing community dwellers.
Through our program, The Alders provides a supportive community for women to come together and receive support not only from staff, but from one another. One-on-one, client-focused support and group programming combine to help women work on the independent living goals they set for themselves in a safe, non-judgmental environment. The Alders provides new meaning for stability.
The Alders has 10 apartments, eight one-bedrooms and two two-bedroom units. Staff is on site a few days each week to provide advocacy, referrals, group programming and individual counseling. In addition to housing, The Alders also provides a drop- in where women and trans individuals can access social work support, as well as having daily needs met, such as shower and laundry services.
