About this organization
Children are the foundation of our future. At Halifax Early Childhood School (HECS), we provide a unique half-day preschool program for 2 to 5 year old children that builds confidence both socially and academically and helps with the transition to elementary school. We believe that children learn through an environment that enhances the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of the child. Our program is designed to encourage and stimulate natural curiosity and develop a feeling of self-worth and respect for others. Activities such as music, drama, art and field trips help children learn to relate to peers and adults and gain confidence through success.
The school is located in a large, cheerful space with a main playroom and several additional rooms for special activities. We promote physical fitness year round and are fortunate to have a shaded outdoor playground, which is used throughout the year.
