Lakeside Homes is located in Gander, NL, and it is the largest long term care (LTC) home in Central Health, which includes 102 LTC beds, which consists of 22 beds on the Special Care Unit (this is a specialized unit for residents diagnosed with moderate to severe dementia, also known as protective care unit; 45 beds on Extended Care Unit 45; 34 beds on 34 Nursing Care Unit; and 1 respite care bed. Lakeside Homes primary purpose is to provide resident and family centered care approach to each of its residents in long term care. Care is provided to meet the physical, psychosocial, spiritual and recreational needs of residents, recognizing the uniqueness of each resident as a person with a past, present and future. Services are provided from an interdisciplinary team approach, which includes, but not limited to, medical care, nursing, social work, pharmacy, physiotherapy, therapeutic recreation, food and nutritional services and pastoral care.
