About this service
Community health nurses delivers public health services for people of all ages in private homes, clinics, schools and other community sites. Programs inform, assess, educate and support individuals in the community and offer screening, referrals, and follow-up services. Services include Child Health Care such as childhood immunizations, vision/hearing screening, developmental screening and education sessions on nutrition, dental, smoking, childbirth, prenatal/postnatal education, reproductive and sexual health.
Community health nurses provides breastfeeding education to students, prenatal and postnatal clients. Community health nurses provide extensive breastfeeding support through home visits and telephone visits with clients. In some areas, breastfeeding support groups are offered at work sites or through Family Resource Centres.
