The Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre is a multi-faceted facility with 80 beds (76 long-term care, 2 respite, 1 palliative care and 1 sub acute) designed to provide clinical and 12 hour Category B Emergency services , diagnostic services, and long-term care services (level III & IV care) to communities within the Exploits Health Services area.
The Centre has a 29 bed Protective Care Unit, a 39 bed LTC Nursing Unit and is home to the 12 bed Exploits Memorial Veterans Pavilion, a unit dedicated for veterans residing in Central Newfoundland. Additional services available at Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre include: 24-hour nursing service, social worker, recreation therapy program, clinical dietitian, pastoral care, volunteer program, palliative care program, Nursing and Protective Care respite.
