Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) are committed to providing quality initial settlement services to newcomer families with school aged children. SWIS workers provide school-based information and referral services that are confidential, culturally appropriate, non-judgemental, and sensitive to the needs of the client. Newly arrived families have access to: Support with accessing school and community resources. Linking newcomers with social and cultural services. Supporting newcomers as they settle into their new school.
