About this service
The Miramichi Emergency Centre for Women, Inc. was established in 1988 and for 33 years, has served all of Northumberland County and many outlying rural areas. If you are in an abusive situation, you are not alone. We provide support and counselling in person or over the phone. We can provide you with safe and secure shelter if you choose to stay with us. We are open 24 hours per day/365 days per year. All of our services are free of charge and strictly confidential.
We provide a safe and supportive residence 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year for women who are in an abusive relationship. Women may come with or without their children. Girls wishing to utilize our residential services must be 16 years or older if not accompanied by their Mother. Boys aged 15 years and younger are welcome to accompany their mothers. Boys 16 years of age and older and dependants of their Mother will be assessed on an individual basis. Note: We are a wheelchair-accessible facility.
