About this service
Every summer a series of activities provide recreational opportunities for the community. These events are free to the participants thanks to funds raised at our annual Urban Retreats Garden Tour and direct sponsorship from organizations and individuals.
People living in poverty do not have access to many social activities other Canadians take for granted. Often those living with mental health issues lack the ability or confidence to organize their own outings. For people who live alone these group activities give them someone to enjoy the experience with.
With outings beyond the perimeter, to the beach or picking berries, people are able to breath in the wide open prairie and have a mini vacation away from the noise of the city.
Goldeye and Blue Bomber games, preceded by a meal together, help to create community and new friendships among the participants.
