About this service
To provide enhanced services and supports for recently arrived Syrian children, youth and families as a way of increasing integration into their new Winnipeg community.
In partnership with multiple Winnipeg school divisions, NEEDS Centre Community Connectors are working with school staff and service providers to provide additional orientation information to recently arrived refugee children and youth. Connectors are also responsible for ensuring that individuals are linked up to existing resources to increase the overall wellbeing of each family.
Program Components Include:
- After-School Orientation Programming to provide valuable information about life in Canada
- Spring and Summer Programming activities
- Community Referrals to existing resources, programs and services
- Cross-Cultural Integration Activities to help newcomer students feel welcome and connected to their new school community
- Family Engagement Activities to help connect parents and guardians to their childs school
