About this service
Perinatal means the period immediately before and after birth. Moms who get perinatal care find the birthing process easier because they know what to expect and how to cope.
Our team works with mothers and their partners to improve the health and wellbeing of parents, babies, and the whole family.
- Pregnancy testing
- Intake visit with a perinatal nurse
- Regular visits with the family physician and perinatal nurse (our physicians dont deliver babies so we will refer you to an obstetrician for delivery)
- Routine tests to ensure you and your baby are healthy
- Referral to a Mount Carmel Clinic midwife, dietitian, diabetic nurse educator or social worker
- Referral to programs in the community like Healthy Start for Mom and Me, and to other agencies or supports
- Information about pregnancy, birth, new baby care
- Newborn Clinic visits
- Breastfeeding support
- Immunization
- Birth control information
