About this service
Alternative Parent Homes and the Purple Martin program offer specialized short and long-term foster care for children and youth 21 and under who experience behavioural challenges and require special supports. The Purple Martin program is a partnership with Winnipeg Child and Family Services.
Emphasizing the importance of a holistic team approach, foster parents, case managers, therapists, child and family service social workers, respite/support workers, in-home facilitators and other professionals work together to address each child's needs.
Specialized care is an integral aspect. Therapists, psychologists, and occupational resources are available to help the team with ongoing care and therapeutic programming that includes a kids' social club. Foster parents are selected based on experience, skills, the ability to understand and parent kids with multiple needs, and their commitment to the kids in their care. MYS provides foster parents with ongoing training to enhance your skills.
