About this service
Financially eligible families may access full representation services from a lawyer appointed by Legal Aid Manitoba (LAM) for most family law matters, including:
- Separation
- Divorce
- Protection/prevention orders
- Spousal support
- Domestic abuse
- Child custody/support matters
- An Alternative to Court
LAM also offers Collaborative Law, a service that helps couples find common ground in the best interests of their child instead of taking an adversarial approach and building a case against each other.
The goal is to resolve issues by negotiating a settlement with couples and their lawyers, without going to court.
