About this service
The Educational Assistant Internship program provides training for individuals who have a desire to work as an Educational Assistant (EA) within the school system. This program runs from September through June.
Training involves classroom theory and practicum based experience. Participants in this program attend workshops every Monday at Jobworks for a theory component. The remainder of the week is spent at a practicum placement in a public school. Participants work in cooperation with school administrators, resource teachers, and their mentor(s) for guidance and support. Once the practicum and theory is completed, the participants are expected to engage in an intensive job search that generally results in substitute hours, term positions, or full time employment as an Educational Assistant during the months of April through June.
