About this service
The Jewish Child and Family Service Settlement worker will meet with you and your family for an initial orientation to Winnipeg to assess your needs, explain what services and programs are available, and assist you in:
- dealing with the many stresses of relocation and adjustment to a new cultural
- and social environment
- making appropriate housing arrangements
- applying for and obtaining necessary documents, e.g., social insurance card, Manitoba Health card
- contacting and connecting you with schools and/or day care centres
- connecting to various professional programs
- searching for employment
- arranging for membership to the Rose and Max Rady Jewish Community Centre (RJCC)
- connecting to other Jewish community organizations
We hope to be a resource to help newcomers link with long-time Winnipeggers, employers and organizations.
We also look forward to connecting and staying in touch with colleagues, service providers, and other community supports.
