About this service
Angel Tree Christmas, is a program of Prison Fellowship Canada that partners with local church communities to reach out to the children of prisoners, and their families, with the love of Jesus.
Children of prisoners are often forgotten and silent victims of crime. Children experience feelings of abandonment, loneliness and shame from having a mom or dad in prison. Maintaining a connection between an inmate and their children is crucial in positive social and emotional development.
Approved applications from prisoners are matched with local area sponsors who volunteer to purchase, wrap and deliver a gift to the prisoners child on his/her behalf. These sponsors are also strongly encouraged to build relationships with the prisoners family by inviting them to community events or local church services. Many churches make an annual commitment as it provides a rewarding opportunity to care for some of the most overlooked members in our communities.
