About this service
Immigrants from any and all countries are invited to Friday Chai at 188 Princess Street, to meet, talk with, and build friendships with staff and volunteers. Coffee, (Chai) tea, and snacks help facilitate small-group table conversation and give the evening the flavour of a social event, while providing immigrants opportunity to hear and speak English.
The evening includes a 20-30 minute presentation concerning a topic relevant to adjusting to life in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Canada. Opportunities to ask questions and small group discussions pertaining to the evenings topic enhance learning. Volunteers and staff are encouraged to be alert to immigrants/newcomers expressed or implied needs in order to connect them with appropriate resources or assist them directly with meeting these needs.
