About this service

Our Community Development Organizer works with school administration, teachers, school staff members, students, parents, and the broader community to identify community challenges facing students and families. Together, they develop and carry out a strategic plan to tackle some specific issues that are barriers to the students learning success.

With this strong community network and leadership, our Community Development Organizer develops and runs programs and projects that address the identified needs of the community including:

Rainbow Community Gardens, a network of community gardens created in partnership with University of Manitoba for newcomer families

CEDA Pathways Post-Secondary Transition Project, that provides support to newcomer graduates for successful transition to post-secondary education.

Youth mentorship projects to foster young community leaders in:

  • food security and food production
  • bike building and repair
  • gardening
  • student exchanges with First Nations communities
