About this service
ACES (Acquiring Community-Based Employment Skills) is a JHS province-wide program, which is delivered by regional John Howard Societies in eight communities across BC. ACES provides employability and life-skills workshops, safety certificate and skills enhancement training, and supported work experiences to individuals facing multiple barriers to employment.
Participants work with ACES staff to identify their career goals and gain access to the skills, certificate courses, and job readiness supports necessary for them to achieve those goals. ACES participants also receive ongoing support and advocacy for success in long-term employment.
Our ACES programs support youth and young adults, and individuals experiencing barriers to employment through certificate-based training, life-skills and employment readiness workshops including:
Assistance with resume and cover letter development
Interview skills training
Supported work experience
One-to-one support and mentorship
