About this service
The EWR shelter at Tenth is now closed and will re-open Nov 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022. You can help by donating financially or by giving some practical items.
The EWR program is designed to provide time-limited, temporary shelter spaces in communities when there are not enough beds in emergency shelters during the cold and wet winter months. In the event of extreme weather, the Homelessness Services Association of BC (HSABC) will activate an alert to temporarily increases emergency shelter capacity for families and individuals experiencing homelessness.
Extreme Weather Alert Activation Criteria includes:
- Sleet/freezing rain or sustained high winds
- Snow accumulation
- Temperatures at or below 0C, or "feels like" 0C with wind chill
- Rainfall of at least 50mm in a 24-hour period
Join us here at Tenth as we open our doors to our neighbours and provide a space of rest to people who are experiencing homelessness.
