About this service
Cultural Programming at the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre largely focuses on topics of inclusivity and sense of belonging, as well as on providing emotional support to women at the centre. Our events incorporate the creative and transformative power of culture, and recognize the diverse backgrounds of our women. The activities and events we organize elevate community-building and cross-cultural connections and are consistent with the mission and mandate of the Downtown Eastside Womens Centre.
This program celebrates diverse and inclusive occasions such as Lunar New Year, Black History Month, National Indigenous Peoples Day, and Transgender Remembrance Day. These events create a harmonizing space for women of all backgrounds to participate, heal, and self-express.
The goal of these events is to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all women who access our centre.
