About this organization
TFKVs mandate is to provide free access to the outdoors for Vancouver urban youth. We run free learn to mountain bike Summer Rides program that target at-risk youth and youth with barriers, providing access to wilderness, an escape from the city.
Our core delivery area is the East Vancouver Electoral District where we have worked with over 40 different youth agencies over the years such as Ray Cam Co-Operative Centre, Kidsafe, Urban Native Youth Association, Kiwassa Neighbourhood House, etc.
We typically run 30+ rides in July and August partnering with local youth agencies, with programming run by summer student staff funded the Federal Canada Summer Jobs program.
We didn't run any programming in 2020 due to Covid. Nothing is planned for summer 2021 (insurance is tough), but we are hoping to run a big event for October 3, 2021 - International Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day.
