Downtown Eastside Connections
There is a new low barrier addiction service in the neighbourhood. Downtown Eastside (DTES) Connections offers fast and easily accessible, opioid replacement therapy to clients who do not have an addiction doctor. Clients are also helped with other health care needs.
The clinic is open 7 days a week, 9 hours a day, 365 days a year. Care is provided in a safe and welcoming environment. The DTES Connections team includes doctors, nurses, counsellors, peers, financial outreach workers, and pharmacists. It has a pharmacy on site.
One of the primary goals of DTES Connections is to help attach people to care. Once clients are initiated and stabilized on opioid replacement therapy, the team helps transition them to community care providers when they are ready.
