SCCSS - Perinatal Substance Use Support

This program provides pre/post natal one-to-one, non-judgemental emotional and practical support to women/birthing individuals who may need assistance in the areas of substance use, poverty, and homelessness. The goal is to provide non-judgemental support, to assist in navigating various government systems and community services, assist in fostering community connection to promote healthy pregnancies, and build community around the woman/birthing individual to help improve pregnancy outcomes. This program offers support to: Women/birthing individuals and their partners who are pregnant and/or recently had a baby Women/birthing individuals who are in recovery, actively using substances (legal, prescribed, and/or illicit) Women/birthing individuals who are in recovery actively using substances (legal, prescribed, and/or illicit) and are experiencing poverty and/or homelessness. What you can expect The Perinatal Substance Use Support Worker is accessed through self-referral or referral through another agency. The support worker will provide pre/post natal one-to-one, non-judgemental emotional and practical support to women/birthing individuals who may need assistance in the areas of substance use, poverty, and homelessness. The Perinatal Substance Use Support Worker is available as a resource to women/birthing individuals that may need help with advocacy, attending health appointments, meeting with social workers, or assistance with the court system.
