SCCSS - Infant Development Program

The Infant Development Program (IDP) provides support for families of children aged birth to three who have a developmental delay, are at risk for a developmental delay, or have been diagnosed with a disability. The IDP consultant uses an inclusive, family centered approach when working with families to identify and support their childrens needs. The consultant visits families in their homes or in a community setting working with an integrated approach to services. Parent involvement and participation is a key factor in achieving successful outcomes for families. What to expect Refers children and families to other therapies or community activities as required. Follows childs development using ASQ-3 and ASQ: SE2 questionnaires, and more in-depth assessments such as the Developmental Assessment of Young Children (DAYC-2). Teaches families Infant Massage techniques (Certified Infant Massage Instructor) either 1-1 during home visits or in small community groups. Teaches families Attachment Parenting Programs such as Circle of Security 1-1 during home visits or in small community groups. Families learn skills/strategies to encourage the development of their child. IDP Playgroup is offered weekly, check with the Program Coordinator for details.
