Friends of the Sechelt Public Library

Friends of the Sechelt Public Library is an independent non-profit organization that was founded in 1997. It is made up of a passionate group of volunteers who raise funds on behalf of the library, promote literacy and strive to ensure that our Library continues to be a central and vital part of Sechelt and surrounding community.

The main purpose of the Friends of the Sechelt Public Library is to raise money to provide a variety of programs, resources and equipment purchases that are separate from the Sechelt Public Librarys core operating budget. Decisions about these purchases are made at the request of, and in close consultation with, the Director/Chief Librarian. Our main fundraising activity is our ongoing Book Faires. In the past five years, the Friends of the Sechelt Public Library have raised funds in excess of $100,000 to help provide the library with resources, materials, and program support. These include: 2 self-check-out machines board games book trucks bookbags a craft cart DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) readers depressible spring-loaded book returns DVDs items for childrens programs new chairs a patron counter sloping lower shelves staff workroom reorganization video and digital cameras movie projector and stand indoor and outdoor projector screens

Friends of the Sechelt Public Library is open Friday 12:00pm - 5:00pm Saturday 10:00am - 3:00pm Sundays 12:00pm - 3:00pm.
