About this service
The Key Worker & Parent Support Program provides support to families with children and youth living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) on Southern Vancouver Island. The Key Worker provides practical and emotional support to families and assists families, professionals and the community in their understanding of FASD.
- Mentors families to increase their knowledge, skills and confidence; empowering them to become their own best advocates,
- Supports families (birth, adoptive and foster) throughout the assessment/diagnostic process,
- Assists families to select and access appropriate services by providing information on the available programs and support, health and education services,
- Provides information, resources and suggestions to support the implementation of strategies and activities to help children to experience less frustration and more success and
- Facilitates a culturally safe circle of support for families and caregivers
