About this service
Access to nutritious food and regular meals is important, particularly when you need to build up your immune system. Proper nutrition enables our body to better cope with stress, fight infection and promote healing.
The Port Alberni Shelter Society runs a Community Food Program for those in need. Donated items are available throughout the week at our Shelter Outreach Centre located at 3699 3rd Ave (corner of Bute St).
During the summer months, fresh produce including salad mixes, beets, carrots, peas, beans, green onions, radish, broccoli, spinach, cucumbers, squash, strawberries, culinary herbs and garlic is grown on our Shelter Farm.
