About this organization
Meals on Wheels in Port Alberni is a not for profit registered charitable organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors, a paid Meal Coordinator , and a large number of volunteer drivers.
Every weekday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., our volunteers deliver more than 65 meals and friendly visits to home-bound people, including seniors, caregivers, individuals with chronic or acute medical conditions, and individuals recovering from surgery, illness or injury.
In addition to delivering a hot nutritious meal to our clients, the drivers also offer the comfort of a friendly visit and the reassurance of an informal check on their safety and well-being.
Meals are prepared by Cypress at Rim Rock and offer an entre of meat or fish, potato, rice or pasta and fresh vegetables, plus either a salad or soup and dessert. Special nutrition and dietary needs are met including those of diabetics. Fresh meals to cover the weekend are available for those who wish them.
