About this service
The Penticton caregivers support program is dedicated to improving the lives of people who are caring for an adult family member or friend with complex health needs. A caregiving family includes the caregivers and the person receiving care. The programs professional family counsellor and peer supports provide individual counselling, group supports, and advocacy for the emotional, physical and financial burdens of caregiving. It is estimated that 80% of eldercare is provided by family and friends. Supporting caregivers is a vital element in our system of healthcare delivery at home and in community. Family caregivers need recognition, appreciation and support to continue offering their significant contribution to the quality of life of people with complex health needs in our community.
