Integrated Family Development

Provided jointly by the Okanagan Boys and Girls clubs and Onesky community resources society, the integrated family development program facilitates counselling, support, parent education, conflict resolution and community connections for children, youth and families in order to develop positive life skills and achieve healthy family functioning. Services include: Intensive family support provides intensive home and community-based support to families when MCFD has identified a risk of a child or youth being placed in care due to child abuse or neglect, or when children/youth are Returning home after being in care for a period of time. Family support & facilitation provides flexible and effective support to families who are experiencing a variety of problems such as family conflict and discord and child-parent conflict. Youth support support services for youth who are living on their own to become successful at independent living. After-care provides home and community-based interventions to children, youth and families who have completed service one of the service streams and require some time-limited, follow-up supports

Individuals and families can self-refer or be referred by the ministry of children and family development (MCFD). Referrals are screened for eligibility to determine if the services within this program will be suitable and helpful to participants situation. Individuals and families referred are contacted and the recommendations of the screening committee shared. If the referral is accepted, a worker contacts participants to begin the intake process. Support is provided as needed to identify what other resource may be available.
