About this service
The Downtown Churches for Social Justice group was convened a number of years ago to address some of the most pressing needs of the immediate Penticton community, especially issues surrounding homelessness and food security. Today it counts a number of churches among its membership as well as a great number of the social service agencies in the city. Members of the group meet on a monthly basis and organize events or campaigns on an as-needed basis. We take our cues from Jesus and seek to affirm the worth and dignity of all people, and their right to the basic necessities of life, both for their material and spiritual wellbeing. This includes economic justice and freedom from persecution or harassment because of race, gender, sexual identity, religion, or age.
