The West Kootenay Region (including Nelson, Castlegar, Trail, Rossland and surrounding areas) was recognized as an area of opportunity that could benefit from this pilot and has entered into a partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The region will utilize this program to continue to strengthen our local economy and support the development of our workforce. Each of the 11 communities across the country that are participating in the pilot will have the opportunity to tailor the immigration program to address their needs and economic development goals.
