Seniors Aging with Grace & Enthusiasm (SAGE)

SAGE is an acronym for Seniors Aging with Grace and Enthusiasm. In April 2018 the SAGE program opened and was designed to support our senior population with a variety of activities while maintaining their current skills and abilities. The environment is bright and relaxed with supports in place to ensure whatever needs are required will be available. Participants are involved in animal therapy, gardening, discussion groups, walks, community outings, hot lunches and even have a local Irish band come in to perform on a regular basis. Interesting areas of focus include supporting one another by sharing concerns and support in areas of physical changes, aging, changing care providers, loss of mobility and even grieving. We are hoping in the near future to be able to expand this wonderful venture by offering it to some of the older population in Nanaimo so that we may have a fully inclusive program.
