For many caring for a loved one can be a rewarding experience. However, no matter how rewarding it is for you, caring for your loved one and maintaining your own life is extremely difficult. Everyone deserves a break & it is extremely important that you get some time to relax & take a little time for yourself. Fatigue & depression can set in with constant in-home care. Unintentionally this can reduce the effectiveness of your efforts and decrease the quality of care. Setting up a respite care service schedule should never make you feel guilty. This schedule will make a better family caregiver in the long-term. Even if its just an extended lunch, visit with a friend or just a break from in-home care will give you the energy you need to be the best caregiver possible.
