Pine Street Community Garden The weather is getting warmer and volunteers at the two Community Garden sites are busy preparing garden beds and planting crops for summer and fall. New volunteers are always welcome. If you think you might be interested in seeing whats going on and joining in the fun, drop by during one of the work parties. The Pine St Community Garden is located in the downtown area on a bus route. It is a green and bountiful oasis hidden behind the Foodshare Centre at 271 Pine St.DSCN4140 Come work together to grow vegetables and fruit in this unique organic community garden. Everyone is welcome. All year round, gardeners and their families exchange a wealth of knowledge, gain food skills, share fresh produce, and find friendship and community at the Pine Street Community Garden. No experience is necessary. The Pine Street Community Garden is communally operated and there are no individual allotments for rent. Instead, all volunteers share in the harvest on Wednesday work party days. Drop in to to one of our Wednesday Work Parties from 11am-4pm, where volunteers gather to garden all year round. There is always something to do mulching, digging, composting, harvesting, watering etc. There is something for every experience level and all ability levels. Work parties may be canceled in very heavy rains or snow. Do you have mulching or composting materials to donate? We would love to have the following materials bagged autumn leaves, soiled hay bales and truckloads of manure. Help us enrich our soil and put vegetable beds to bed under a warm layer of mulch.
