Language Training Options for Newcomers to Canada Understanding the Canadian Language Benchmarks The Immigrant Welcome Centre provides FREE government approved English language classes through the LINC program. LINC stands for LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION FOR NEWCOMERS TO CANADA and uses the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) national standard. Our Centre offers LINC levels from 1 to 8. LINC can help you: Learn English for day-to-day life Get skills for a job Use a computer To ask about housing, work, banking, and other important issues Learn about Canadian culture Make new friends To book a language assessment, contact our Language Training Coordinator.
