At The Nanaimo Pain Clinic, we have set out to create a safe, confidential, and encouraging space to address and treat opiate dependence.

Opiate dependence is a complex issue, comprised of many layers beyond just the drug of choice. From doctor-prescribed pain pills to street sourced heroin and Fentanyl, addiction can have a powerful impact on anyones life. At The Nanaimo Pain Clinic, we understand that there are multiple stages of change, each one bringing rise to new challenges. Our hope is to support our patients through the early phase of their recovery, and assist them in creating healthy patterns of coping and systems of support within the community to insure long-term benefit. INTAKE A thorough intake is conducted so that care can be tailored to patients individually (1 hour) INDUCTION Medication-assisted treatment commences under close observation by the prescribing physician to ensure the safety and comfort of the patient (2-3 days) STABILIZATION The dose is assessed, and elevated incrementally over time if needed (1-3 months) CONTINUING CARE Weekly or bi-weekly support sessions are offered on a one-on-one basis to begin to address trauma, initiate goal-setting, and to assist the patient in fostering strong support relationships within the recovery community (ongoing)
