Nanaimo Newcomers Club

The Nanaimo Newcomers Club is a non-denominational, non-profit social group for all women who have moved to Nanaimo and area within the last three years or have experienced a recent life change (recently widowed or divorced). The club was launched in 1985 and is run by an executive board and activity coordinators who are all volunteers.

Our members are interested in all KINDS of activities, as you can see! The list below represents just a few of the fun things we do. We have over 30 regular monthly activities to choose from as well as special events. Chances are you will always find something to sign up for. Membership in Nanaimo Newcomers Club definitely has its rewards! Book Clubs Our members appear to love book clubs, as we already have four groups. Our fourth club starts in April and you can choose ANY book you want! Painting and Sketching Find the artist in you as you learn to sketch and paint with other artists! Canasta Play with a partner and socialize at the same time! Discover the Islands Remember, you just moved to the West Coast, which is has numerous fabulous little islands to discover and explore. We have walking groups and special events that explore the islands. Euchre Flex your mental muscles and share in this great game with some new friends! Happy Hour Meet with new-found friends; there is no better way to get to know each other than at happy hour! Hiking and Walking Tuesday are waterfront walks and Thursday we schedule hikes and walks on local trails - chat and walk and perhaps join new friends for coffee after. Knit Wits Spend quality time with like-minded crafters by joining an enthusiastic group of stitchers! They meet once a month and while they click away at a project, the conversations flow. Pickleball Bring your racquet and a ball and join our group. All level of play is welcome.
