About this organization
French immersion is the delivery of the regular British Columbia school curriculum in the French language. Students in French Immersion follow the same curriculum as students in the regular English program, but their courses are in French instead of English. There is no fee for the program.
Early French Immersion is offered at the following four schools:
- Eric Langton Elementary
- Laity View Elementary
- Maple Ridge Elementary
- Pitt Meadows Elementary
Late French Immersion begins in Grade 6 and is available to any student in the district.
The SD42 Late French Immersion Program is an excellent opportunity for students who want to learn a second language or are looking for a challenge. Students who are currently in Grade 5 are eligible to begin Late French Immersion in September at Golden Ears Elementary School. This two-year elementary program continues at Maple Ridge Secondary School.
