About this organization
Lumby Food Bank works with Foodbanks BC and Food Banks Canada to help provide people with food assistance.
We are part of the food recovery program-a system in place that helps to utilize food from local grocery stores that would normally go into the landfill. Food recovery most often includes produce, bread, and meat. Once a week it is picked it up, brought back to the food bank and a team of volunteers goes through the good, bad and ugly, and keep anything that can still be utilized to offer once a week. A few smaller businesses also offer support with products that we are in need of.
We will never turn anyone away who is hungry and needs food, regardless of circumstances. We are here to lend a helping hand-to everyone!
