OAC - Psychoeducational Assessment (Including ADHD and Learning Disabilities)

Children, youth and adults are typically referred for psycho-educational assessments when there are concerns about their cognitive development or when they are not achieving at expected levels academically. Psycho-educational assessments include in-depth exploration in the areas of intellectual aptitude and academic achievement; IQ and academic abilities are the two main areas typically assessed. They can also include more limited assessment of other cognitive abilities, such as attention, concentration and processing speed. They can include a screening of behavioural and social-emotional concerns that may affect learning. Although psycho-educational assessments are typically conducted with school-age children and youth, they can be quite useful when planning for Kindergarten entry with pre-school children who have experienced some developmental delays or behavioural problems. We also conduct psycho-educational assessments for adults attending college or university.
