About this service
Forensic Outreach Services is an outreach program of the John Howard Society for clients of the Forensic Psychiatric Services Commission (FPSC). Forensic Outreach Services supports individuals, 18 years+, who have come into contact with the law but suffer from serious and persistent mental illness and were found Not Criminally Responsible on account of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD). The objective of the Forensic Outreach Worker is to provide resources and support in order to assist the client to maintain their mental health recovery and to successfully reintegrate into society.
A treatment team works to manage the risk of the clients living in the community. The Forensic Outreach Worker is one member of this team that also includes a psychiatrist, a Forensic Liaison Officer, and a Community Nurse. The Forensic Outreach Worker visits individuals in the community to monitor mental health and assist with psychosocial rehabilitation.
