About this service
BC Cancer offers counselling services and support programs to cancer patients and family members.
Dealing with cancer can cause intense emotions. 35% to 45% of all cancer patients experience significant emotional distress at some point.
BC Cancer counsellors are masters- and doctorate-trained health professionals with expertise in cancer treatment, who can help you cope with emotions and concerns, such as:
- Fear, anxiety and depression
- Family tensions
- Relationship problems
- Lifestyle changes
- Financial stressors
Individuals, couples, caregivers and families can talk to our counsellors in-person or over the phone, or attend counsellor-led support groups at our regional centres, throughout cancer treatment and beyond.
