About this service
Provides residential care, supervision and treatment services for behaviourally challenging youth-in-care, with complex and/or special needs. The program currently consists of three two-bed facilities in the Central Okanagan.
The focus is to help the youth increase their:
- Emotional stability
- Interpersonal and life skills
- Natural and community resources
- Functioning in the community
- Harm reduction strategies
All youth served are in the care of the Ministry for Children and Family Development, either through a temporary or continuing care order, or an (special needs) agreement between MCFD and the family. Youth-in-care are referred by MCFD social workers to the MCFD resources unit for a staffed residential program in the community. When a vacancy is projected or occurs within a facility of the ARC Residential Program, the Resources liaison, ARC Program Director and the youths referring Social Worker will screen the youth for the specific program setting/facility.
