About this organization
1000X5 Childrens Book Recycling Project Society supports young children and learning by providing books for babies and preschoolers in this crucial early brain development and literacy stage. Every child gains a home library and has those books read to them 1000 times by age five, building lifelong language, literacy and social-emotional skills. Many families, due to poverty or unfamiliarity with early reading do not own many or any books. Collaboration is broadly and sustainably based: 12,000 families at 36 Greater Victoria elementary schools donate books; 1000 children receive 3 books monthly (30 books/year) from 28 agencies (70 programs).
