About this service
The West Kootenay Boundary Aboriginal Supported Child Development program is intended for children who require extra support to be included in a child care setting. The ASCD program is a community-based, family-centered, child development program that is grounded in the belief that inclusion is the most important principle in supporting children to actively participate in a full range of programs. Families participate on a voluntary basis.
The ASCD program is designed to ensure cultural safety and cultural sensitivity for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit children and families. The program provides services for children who require extra support in the following areas:
Physical Development
Cognitive Development
Communicative Development
Social/Emotional Development
Behavior
