We often seek counselling when we experience problematic issues. These issues may become distressing, and may begin to negatively impact our ability to function as usual. When this happens, we may seek the help of a professional counsellor who will help us to explore our issues and use our own wisdom, strengths and resources to work toward a resolution. In the process, counselling offers us the opportunity to make meaningful change.
Properly understood, seeking counselling is neither a sign of weakness nor an admission of failure. Rather, seeking help is an indication of health and the desire for personal and interpersonal growth.
